About us
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character. It is a strategic objective of the University to strengthen diversity in academia and to attract and retain talented women. To reinforce this commitment, the present position is being advertised as part of the University of Luxembourg's Anne Beffort Excellence Programme, which prioritizes the recruitment of female scholars to professorial roles. For an initial period of six months, the University will consider applications exclusively from female candidates.
Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is a young research-intensive institution. Interdisciplinarity in research and teaching is key to the University's approach to addressing tomorrow's societal challenges. Embedded in Luxembourg's diverse and multicultural society, the University offers a welcoming, multilingual environment where students and researchers from around the world feel at home. Its human size fosters close interaction between students and lecturers, creating a personal atmosphere. With 1,600 members of academic staff for 6,700+ students and 1,000+ PhD candidates, students feel connected and valued on their academic journey.
Internationally recognised research drives innovation in digital transformation, health, and sustainable development. This scientific progress is supported by cutting-edge infrastructure and a national commitment to education, research, and innovation.
The dynamics of a young university offer rare potential and scope for exploring new ideas.
The Department of Mathematics (DMATH) at Luxembourg University is recognized internationally for leading research in both fundamental and applied areas of Mathematics. DMATH offers a Bachelor's program and three Master's programs, alongside a robust range of outreach activities, and is dedicated to training the next generation of researchers - PhD candidates and postdoctoral scholars. With a permanent staff comprising 12 full professors, 2 associate professors, and 1 assistant professor, DMATH covers a wide spectrum of research areas: (1) Algebra and Number Theory, (2) Geometry and Topology, (3) Probability and Stochastic Analysis, (4) Discrete and Geometric Analysis, (5) Statistics and Data Science, and (6) Partial Differential Equations and Modelling. The Department of Mathematics (DMATH), headed by Prof. Dr. Giovanni Peccati (giovanni.peccati@uni.lu), is opening an Assistant / Associate Professor (depending on qualifications) position in Mathematics, in an area of modern mathematics related to algebra.
