Transporting gas on inland waterways in an efficient, reliable and safe manner. That is what we do and what we are good at. Chemgas is the market leader in the transport of pressurized liquefied gases on inland waterways. Our colleagues are committed to this 24/7, all year round. You too can contribute to this! We are looking for a skipper for our inland shipping fleet.


What will you do?

In the position of skipper, you are jointly responsible for the safe, optimal and proper execution of the transport. Safety is of paramount importance to you and you ensure that this is guaranteed on board. You carry out the common nautical work, do the administration, take care of the loading and you carry out technical work. Moreover, you have an organizing role and you co-manage your colleagues under the leadership of the captain.

Chemgas is not standing still, and neither is our inland shipping branch. Our modern and well-maintained fleet is always evolving. We invest a lot of time and energy in new construction and conversion projects. In recent years, our fleet has been expanded with a number of new ships. New construction projects are also planned for the coming years and we are once again rejuvenating our inland shipping fleet. As a result, we are looking for additional talent to strengthen our team.

Partly because of our innovative ships, we strive for the highest achievable. Efficient gas transport for our clients is central and our employees are paramount. With your expertise, you can make an important contribution to this objective.


Are you looking after the vacancy?

You have an eye for safety, the environment and health and you also like to work in a team.

We also ask the following:

You are in possession of a Rhine patent up to at least Mannheim and you can also sail this route independently;
ADN base and you are willing to obtain ADN gas;
Radar patent;
VHF certificate;
EU qualification certificate.

Our barge fleet operates from Luxembourg. Our sailing leave schedule consists of one week on board and one week at home, but two weeks on and two weeks off is also possible. On board you walk in a system of 8 hours on/8 hours. On an annual basis, you have the choice to work 24/28, 25/27 or 26/26 weeks.
