Your role

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a Doctoral Student (PhD candidate) to join the Centre for Childhood and Youth (CCY) within the Department of Social Sciences. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research on childhood, youth, and related social issues in an international and interdisciplinary environment.

The successful candidate will pursue their own doctoral research project leading to a PhD within a collaborative research environment and will be funded by two important international research projects: Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) and European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD).

Tasks:

  • Conduct research leading to a PhD thesis in the field of Social Sciences with a focus on health and well-being in childhood and youth
  • Collaborate with CCY researchers on ongoing projects and contribute to the development of new research initiatives
  • Contribute to data analysis and data management
  • Contribute to national and internationals reports, online data dashboards, and peer-reviewed research publications (as first and co-author)
  • Participate in academic activities such as seminars, workshops, and conferences
  • Assist with teaching and administrative tasks within the department (up to a limited percentage of time)

Your profile

  • Master's degree in sociology, psychology, public health, or another relevant field
  • Strong interest in childhood and youth studies, particularly health and risk behaviours of adolescents
  • Familiarity with quantitative research methods
  • Knowledge in statistics (descriptive and inferential analysis)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
  • Willingness to engage in teamwork in research groups

LanguageRequiremets:
