“A normal person would have thought - oh my god I’m loosing heat, so I need to fix that because it’s not efficient. But I actually started to look closer at the frost crystals, took my little point-an-shoot camera, pushing it up against the window, taking macro shots and I really became fascinated at that point at the beauty and what I just nochalantely was calling ‘Nature’s Art’.”

“Oh yes, it’s ever changing and the images are never static because the frost is either growing and changing or it’s melting in the sun and disappearing completely. And how they grow is quite an interesting subject. I’m a geophysicist so I kind of became very intrigued in how they grow and I did timelapse movies to watch the growth on my windows.”

“I sometimes spend my mornings rushing from one window to the next because the compositions, the types of crystals are all completely different and of course the light coming from outside is different too. There’s one window though, in my bedroom, where I get many, if not most of my most fabulous compositions. I discussed that with my kids like - why that window? Why is this window so fabulous all the time? And their theory is because that window is just a couple of feet away from my head when I sleep at night, so they say that my thoughts are somehow impacting.”
