Volontairen aus Lëtzebuerg an aus der Ukrain fuere mat den Ambulanzen an de Pompjeesween bis op déi polnesch Grenz, en Donneschdeg geet et da weider op Lviv. E Sonndegowend, also op Chrëschtdag, sollen d’Lëtzebuerger Chaufferen nees zeréck am Grand-Duché sinn. Ma e Mëttwoch mécht sech just den éischte Convoi op de Wee. D’Zil vun der Campagne “Ukraine is calling”, déi am Oktober lancéiert gouf, sinn nämlech 112 Ambulanzen a Pompjeesween.
Zu Lviv ginn d’Gefierer offiziell un déi lokal Rettungsdéngschter iwwerginn a vun do op déi Plazen an d’Ukrain verdeelt, wou se am meeschte gebraucht ginn.
Press release
Luxembourg, December 21
16 rescue vehicles departed from Luxembourg to save Ukrainian lives
On December 21 the first convoy with rescue vehicles for Ukraine departed from Luxembourg. It was the first batch of vehicles procured and delivered by LUkraine ASBL within a framework of the global fundraising campaign “Ukraine is Calling”, that was launched by the Luxembourg-based non-profit organization this October.
This convoy includes 16 cars – 12 ambulances and 4 fire trucks. 8 of these vehicles were provided by the Ministry of Interior of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the rest were purchased with the help of individual donations and Luxembourgish business company contributions. Artec3D, Cineast Film Festival, Mr. Francois Meyer, and PubliLux kindly covered the full price of individual cars.
The vehicles are expected arrive to Lviv on 23 December and will be handed over to the State Emergency Service and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. All the convoy drivers are volunteers, some of whom are citizens of Luxembourg.
Ukraine is Calling campaign aims to raise 10M EUR to purchase 112 firetrucks and ambulances to support Ukrainian emergency services and the medical system in rescuing civilians from the consequences of the russian full-scale invasion. The campaign started in Luxembourg but quickly spread to other countries, becoming a global effort. There is a great need for these vehicles, as more than 2000 fire trucks and ambulances have been destroyed since the beginning of the war, a number that is increasing daily. Ukrainian emergency services are forced to prioritize rescue missions daily due to the constant shortage of such vehicles at the consequence of their destruction by the aggressor. Providing relief in the form of emergency vehicles is a necessary and important way to help Ukraine and its people.
“On behalf of all the Ukrainians, I would like to thank the Luxembourg government, businesses, and all the people who have contributed to the campaign for your great generosity and unconditional support of Ukrainians in these hard times. We greatly appreciate your help and are strongly convinced that it will aid in saving hundreds of innocent lives in this war. Your support helps to further our mission through Ukraine is Calling, and we will keep raising funds to accomplish it”, Inna Yaremenko, VP of LUkraine ASBL, thanks.
