Pressetext vun den éditions Guy Binsfeld:
Marianne Majerus from Luxembourg is one of the world’s most renowned garden
photographers. Her work has won numerous awards and has been featured in countless
publications and exhibitions. In her new book “Garden Photography: The Art of the
Ephemeral” published by éditions guy binsfeld, she takes us on a very personal journey
through a wide variety of gardens. Expressive images tell the story of growth and
transformation, of fading and farewells.
“I see gardens as works of art made of living entities that change with the seasons and the passing
of time ”, explains Marianne Majerus. An introductory portrait, written by Sabrina Notka,
provides insights into the biography and philosophy of the photographer.
Readers follow Marianne into marvellous gardens – from blossoming beauty spots in spring to
icy glittering worlds in winter. Her 76 carefully selected photos are an invitation to take a closer
look, to trace the essence of the plants and to linger in moments that will never return. The many
faces of change are captured in this book. The images are complemented by information about
the plant species, the location where the photograph was taken and the garden designer. This
book is also a tribute to the people who work with nature to create these blooming oases and pass
on their knowledge from generation to generation – roots for the future.
The book will accompany two exhibitions by Marianne Majerus organised as part of LUGA –
Luxembourg Urban Garden (neimënster) and the European Month of Photography (Parc de
Merl).
